Music Ministry
Music
"Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs..."
Psalm 100:2
At Summerville, we believe worship is ultimately about giving glory to God. Our desire is not to create a performance, but to lead God's people in genuine, Christ-centered worship that is rooted in Scripture, engages both the heart and mind, and encourages the entire congregation to participate.
We are a multigenerational church, and we believe there is something powerful about generations worshiping together. We value strong congregational singing and use choir, praise team, vocalists, instrumentalists, and children's music as parts of one unified worship ministry.
Our desire is to sing music that is biblically faithful and theologically rich while honoring the musical heritage of our church and continuing to grow together in worship. Whether through a great hymn of the faith or a newer worship song, our focus remains the same: pointing people to Christ and giving glory to God.

Sanctuary Choir & Praise Team
Our Sanctuary Choir and Praise Team serve together in leading the congregation in worship on Sunday mornings and during special services throughout the year. More than simply preparing music, these ministries provide opportunities for members to worship, grow together, build relationships, and use their gifts to help lead others in worship.
The Sanctuary Choir sings a variety of music, including hymns, worship songs, anthems, and seasonal selections. The Praise Team helps lead the congregation through worship songs and supports the church's weekly worship gatherings with vocalists and instrumentalists. Together, the choir and praise team reflect our desire to honor Summerville's musical heritage while continuing to grow in Christ-centered, congregational worship.
Children's Choirs
Our children's choirs give kids opportunities to learn what it means to worship God through music while developing their musical gifts and abilities. Children learn basic musical skills and vocal techniques while also having opportunities to explore instruments such as bells, boomwhackers, and others.
Throughout the year, our children's choirs help lead the church in worship, and each spring our elementary-age children come together to present a special children's musical.
